March 23, 1975: I wait for a job before signing to buy the pool hall and open our coffee house; a group of our pastoral and ministry friends agree to marry us spiritually. March 22, 1975: Cindy’s divorce will take 6 months so we decide to marry spiritually first; we try to buy a pool hall in Bear River to be nearer friends and use it as a drop-in center and coffee house ministry. March 17, 1975 (2nd Post): We move to Digby, Nova Scotia to be near Pastor Earl Waterman and his congregation (many of them dear friends); Earl gives us some words of wisdom during our time of transition to married life. March 17, 1975 (Monday): A February 28th call changes my life… Cindy, whom I was certain was not the right woman for me, is pregnant; we decide to do what is right by the baby and marry; circumstances force us to move from the Garden of Jesus commune. February 26, 1975 (3rd Post): My walk with Christ deepens as I focus on my new direction and a growing love between myself and Karlene. February 26, 1975 (2nd Post): Choices have consequences; second thoughts on my new direction; I thank God for my many friends. February 26, 1975: I decide to move permanently to Bear River; staying temporarily at the Pecks, I am burdened by their shallow spirituality. February 21, 1975 (2nd Post): I boldly proclaim what God will do, to Karlene’s father; I learn the deeper meaning of he “Who keeps God’s word, in him is the love of God perfected”. February 21, 1975: I make a final decision to leave the Garden of Jesus and begin life anew, here in Bear River; Walking with Karlene in the woods and witnessing to her father. February 20, 1975: Prayer secrets; I cut my mid-back length hair to win the approval of Karlene’s dad and some of my rebellious nature is cut in the process. |
